Wear your Heart on Your Helmet
Wear Your Heart on Your Helmet: During the 2007 season, FedEx Racing and driver of the #11 FedEx Toyota Camry, Denny Hamlin, partnered with children’s hospitals around the country and the Make-A-Wish Foundation to have hospital patients and Make-A-Wish program participants design the race helmet that Hamlin wore in eleven NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events. Each helmet was designed by a patient who started with blank helmet template and then let their creativity guide their design. Once the design was finished, the template was sent to renowned helmet designer Jason Beam who then transferred the work to the race-ready helmet. As part of the Wear Your Heart on Your Helmet program, Hamlin visited each of the children’s hospital to be presented with the helmet by the patients, and to deliver a donation of $25,000 on behalf of FedEx to each hospital.
